Bonjour! We are now in our second city in France. After a very long 450 mile bus ride, we finally made it! The day got off to a slow start. Our bus was pulled over by the German highway patrol for a random search. We had to get off the bus for over an hour for the police to run all of their checks. We ended up getting back on the bus at around 12:20. We had gotten off the bus before 11, so our leaders told us not to eat, and that we would be stopping for lunch in a short while. After watching transformers, and 3 hours, everyone was getting so hungry and most were dying to go to the bathroom. There was no food or place to stop in site. We made it over several mountains and through long stretches before eating a very late lunch. We stopped at a gas station with minimal food, but I think most were happy to get anything. I got pretzels and a very bad pre-made sandwich but I was happy since my bladder was empty and my tummy had something in it.
The rest of the drive wasn’t too much longer. We ended up getting to Dijon a little after 7. Since there was no welcome dinner in this city, we were free to walk around. A large group of us went in search of a place for dinner that had a television in it. Germany was playing Austria in a very important Euro cup game. We finally found a Cuban/Mexican/French fusion restaurant called Havana. The food was decent but we had a huge tv! The meal wasn’t very big so we ended up stopping by McDonalds on the way. I got a very good m&m mcflurry before heading back to the hotel. Now Amanda and I are watching some grey’s anatomy in French before we head to bed!
